Medium granite chips, also called turkey grit, granite grit or gran-i-grit are small particles (5/16" - 1/2") of crushed granite. A longtime grower in our area included it in his orchid mixes and the results spoke for themselves. Perhaps it is because this rock provides silica and micronutrients over time that is a 'secret ingredient' in some orchid mixes. It is also effective as a topdressing. Extra Small Granite Chips, and Small Granite Chips are also available.
